Harriet Leonard was born on 23 November 1882 in Magnolia, Harrison County, Iowa. Van Ezra Peterson and she were married in January 1906 in Holdrege, Nebraska. She died on 22 October 1967 at age 84 at Oakview Convalescent Hospital in Tujunga, Los Angeles County, California. She was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, CA lot 3023.

Van Ezra Peterson was born on 11 January 1884 in Ottawa, Illinois. He and Harriet Leonard were married in January 1906 in Holdrege, Nebraska. He died on 3 June 1952 at age 68 in Glendale, Los Angeles County, California. He was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, CA lot 3023.

Fannie Leonard was born on 12 July 1885. She died on 27 September 1974 at age 89 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Benjamin Leonard was born on 15 February 1806 in Pennsylvania. He and Sarah ("Sallie") Harbaugh were married on 12 September 1830 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He died on 12 February 1877 at age 70 in Stewart, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

In the 1850 Census, the family was living in Wharton, Fayette Co., PA. Benjamin was a farmer, and Amos was a chair maker. After Constant died, Benjamin went to live with his maternal grandparents, the Thorps.


Sarah (Harbaugh) Leonard
was born on Nov. 18, 1810 in or near Rockwood, PA, the daughter of Leonard and Elizabeth (Pritts) Harbaugh.
When Sarah was a girl, her mother died. A few years later, when she was about nine, her father then married young widow Martha (Minerd) Imel, who became Sarah's step-mother.
Sarah married Benjamin Leonard (1806-1877) and lived near Ohiopyle, Fayette County, PA.
The Leonards had 11 children -- Eli Leonard, Isaac Leonard, Rev. Amos Potter Leonard, Samuel Leonard, Annie Young, Reuben H. Leonard, Rebecca Farmer, Christmas Leonard, Mary Potter, Martha Turney and Robert Bacom Leonard.
Benjamin and his son in law, George Perry Potter, were "the first to manufacture splint chairs on Meadow Run," says the 2000 book, The Explorer's Guide to the Youghiogheny River Gorge, Ohiopyle, & S.W. Pennsylvania's Villages, by Marci McGuinness and Bill Sohonage.
When the federal census of 1860 was taken, Sarah and Benjamin and their eight children dwelled in Farmington, Fayette County. Benjamin's occupation was recorded as "farmer" and eldest son Amos's as "carpenter."
In the 1870 census all but two of the Leonard children had moved out of the family home. Sarah and Benjamin are living in Stewart Township, Fayette County thier Daughter Mary (age 21) and son Robert (15) were the only two children living at home. Living just a few households away was the Leonards' future son in law, Civil War veteran George Perry Potter and his first wife Elmira.
Sarah died on Aug. 18, 1876, at the age of 66.
Benjamin passed away just six months later, on Feb. 12, 1877. He was age 71. His grave marker is seen at right, still legible when photographed in May 2001.
They are buried at the Irwin Memorial Cemetery (formerly known as Belle Grove Cemetery) near Ohiopyle.
Benjamin's sons Reuben and Christmas "kept his business going long after his death.

Eli Leonard was born on 1 July 1831 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He and Catherine Dean were married in July 1856 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He died on 17 July 1899 at age 68 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

He was living with his parents in Wharton, Fayette Co., PA, in the 1850 Census. He was a cooper at the time of the 1860 Census. Eli Leonard had person sources.¹

Catherine Dean was born about 1839 in Pennsylvania. Eli Leonard and she were married in July 1856 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

Rev. Amos Potter Leonard was born on 14 July 1835 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He died in 1895 at age ~60.

He was a Methodist Episcopal pastor and built the ME Church at Meadow Run, in Stewart, PA. He also wrote a family history of the Leonards.

Anne Leonard was born on 30 May 1838 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

Reuben H. Leonard was born on 2 September 1841 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He and Martha A. Cummingham were married about 1868. He died on 12 September 1922 at age 81 in Ohiopile, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

He was a farmer. In the 1900 Census, the family was living in Stewart twp., Fayette Co., PA.

Martha A. Cummingham was born in March 1850 in Pennsylvania. Reuben H. Leonard and she were married about 1868. She died before 1920 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

Rebecca Leonard was born on 4 December 1843 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She died on 10 May 1907 at age 63 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

Christmas Leonard was born on 25 December 1846 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He died on 16 January 1905 at age 58 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. He was buried at Irwin Memorial Cemetery in Stewart Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania.

His farm was next to his brother, Reuben's, in the 1900 Census.

Frances E. ("Fannie") Rankin was born in January 1851 in Pennsylvania.

Mary Leonard was born on 17 March 1849 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. George Perry Potter and she were married about 1880 in Pennsylvania. She died on 31 March 1925 at age 76 in Wood County, Ohio.

George Perry Potter was born in 1831. He and Mary Leonard were married about 1880 in Pennsylvania. He died in 1910 at age ~79.

They had two children.

Martha Leonard was born on 19 August 1851 in Fayette County, Pennsylvania. She died on 4 September 1928 at age 77.
