Biography

George W. Leonard was born in 1862 in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. He and Margaret J. Pritchett were married in 1885. He died in February 1928 at age ~66.

In the 1900 Census, he lived with this wife Sarah E. and son Lee in Brookwood, Tuscaloosa Co., AL. He was a coal miner. According to the Census, both he and his wife Sarah were born in February 1875. He lived in River Bend, Bibb Co. (1910 Census). He worked in a coal mine and had 7 children. In the 1910 Census, his wife was listed as Ella L. They had been married 25 years. Something doesn't add up -- were Sarah and Ella the same person? By the 1920 Census, George had died and Ella headed the family. Ella was the wife of William G. and had grandchildren William b. 1902 and Johnie b. 1904. But there's another George Leonard b. 1871 married to Margret b. 1873 with children Loe (m) b. 1900, Tam (m) b. 1902, Hester b. 1904, living in Brookwood. The two George's and their families need to be untangled! George W. Leonard had person sources.¹

Biography

Silas W. Leonard was born about 1838 in Bibb County, Alabama. He and Mary Caroline Horn were married about 1860 in Bibb County, Alabama. He died after 1880.

The marriage to Mary Caroline Horn produced no children, and the couple separated.

He served in the Alabama 20th Infantry, Company C, in the Civil War. He apparently married a second time in Texas to Sarah, who was a lot younger than he. He and Sarah and the two children are listed as living in Red River Co., TX, in the 1880 Census. Silas W. Leonard had person sources.¹
