Mary Ann Hotchkiss were married on 19 February 1889. He died on 10 October 1924 at age 77 in Moreland, Woodward County, Oklahoma.
According to the Woodward County Tribune, he was "murdered for $1.50 by a tansient on his way to town."
When Francis married Mary Ann Trotter, his brother Stephen Sylvester Leonard was the best man. He moved with his children and her children to Oklahoma about 1894 after the Land Rush and started a cattle ranch. Stephen Sylvester Leonard

Stephen Sylvester Leonard was born on 22 September 1852 in Liberty, Union County, Indiana. He and
Carrie Alice Ring were married in February 1876. He died on 17 June 1892 at age 39 in Truesdale, Brown Township, Edwards County, Kansas. He was buried at Trotter Cemetery in Lewis, Edwards County, Kansas.
Stephen and Carrie and five children came to Kansas by covered wagon to homestead in 1884. His brother Francis was already living in
Edwards County with his first wife Mariah and their children. Their first residence was a sod house measuring 14x24 in Edwards County.
He filed a land claim November 7, 1891, and died at the age of 40 in June of the grip a few months later, leaving a 31-year-old wife and children ages 15 months to 15 years. Carrie Alice remarried in 1895 to Rudolph Marteeney, a farmer/stockman, and had another daughter, Virginia.
According to tales told by Anna Johanna Tenbrink Leonard, Sylvester Benjamin (Bud) Leonard, and Rose Josephine Minet Leonard, four of the daughters were "very wild" and married each others husbands. The boys all married one wife and were "good providers." There is another rumor that another brother, William M. Leonard, came with Francis to Kansas and ended up in New Mexico (but no proof). He was an auctioneer, retail business owner, and inventor.
In the 1910 Census, the family was living in Sterling, Hodgeman Co., KS. William and Anna had a son, William H., and a daughter, Agnes, 3. I can't find William or his family in the 1920 or 1930 Censuses.
His World War I draft registration card has him married to Anna J. Leonard and living at 1005 6th Street, Dodge City, Ford Co., KS He was listed as of medium height and build with blue eyes and dark brown hair. His present occupation was listed as tire builder.
He was crushed between two cars while leaving an auction.
He left his wife, moved to Wichita, and lived with a woman named Elva Davis. William was said to be a wonderful, talented man. By family reputation, William's wife was a shrew who drove him away and wouldn't give him a divorce. He was buried in the plot next to his wife, but Elva was not allowed to attend the funeral.
