Israel Dewey was born on 25 September 1645 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. He and Abigail Drake were married on 20 August 1668 in Northampton, Hampshire County, Massachusetts. He died on 23 October 1678 at age 33 in Windsor, Hartford County, Connecticut. He was buried in October 1678 in Windsor, Hartford, Colony of Connecticut.
Israel Dewey (page 721, Dewey Genealogy) was 4th child of 5, 3rd son of 4, born in Windsor, CT, and died there at age 33. He was a farmer there and at Northampton, MA, where he was married. He was granted eight acres of land on the Fort Side (South Street) at Westfield August 27, 1668, soon removed and purchased William Brooke's grant.

Capt. Martin Bennett was born on 22 September 1788 in Sandwich, Massachusetts. He and Elizabeth T. He was buried in Plot 967, Old North Burial Ground, Bristol, Rhode Island.

Capt. Bennett was a sea captain who died at sea September 7, 1835, while on passage from Savannah, GA, to Liverpool, England (Bristol Phenix of 24 Oct 1835). Capt. Martin Bennett had person sources.2

Biography

Martin Bennett, Jr., was born on 18 November 1811 in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island. He and Mary Tripp Church were married on 18 May 1834 in Saint Michaels Congregational Church, Bristol, Rhode Island. He died on 7 December 1891 at age 80 in Bristol, Rhode Island.
He was cashier of the First National Bank of Bristol for 24 years. He was grand marshal of the 4th of July Parade for several years. Martin joined the First Church of Bristol July 3, 1842, with his brother, Messadore, and his wife, Martha. He was somewhat taller than his brother Messadore, conservative in appearance, quiet and unassuming, and always dependable. The First National Bank was paying its stockholders 7 1/2% interest in the days when he was cashier.

His gravestone says he was born January 28, 1812. The gravestone is located directly south of Mary Eddy Leonard Healey (Leonard monument).

Messadore Toscan Bennett was born on 20 November 1815 in Newport, Newport County, Rhode Island. He and Martha Fales Maxfield were married on 8 April 1838 in Bristol, Rhode Island. He died on 3 July 1890 at age 74 in Bristol, Rhode Island.
He was a leading businessman and manufacturer in Bristol. From "Sketches of Old Bristol:" "Among the notable personages who come to mind is Messadore T. Bennett, who presided over our town meetings for so many years. He was a man of medium height, dignified in bearing. His 'Dundreary' whiskers gave him a most distinguished appearance. His manner was cordial and kindly. He was a devoted member of the Congregational Church, and at one time was superintendent of the Sabbath school."

His father named him Messadore out of respect for an Italian officer he knew by that name.
