Philip was the son of Philip Slade and Mary Reed and grandchild of Edward Slade, Phebe Chase, Oliver Reed, and Martha Durfee. No children for Philip and Elizabeth in ancestry.com record. Nehgs has record of Edward Slade being born to Philip and Mary Slade in Rehoboth. Also, a Rev. Philip Slade of Swansea d. in 63rd year, American of Sept. 12, 1828. He was pastor of the First Six Principle Baptist Church in Swansea for 40 years. His wife d. about November 24, 1810. He married Phebe Slade, dau. of Jonathan Slade of Slade's Ferry. Rev. Philip is buried in Slade Cemetery, Somerset, MA. He died 3 September 1828 in 68th year. He had daus. Elizabeth and Phebe. (not this one)

In the 1880 Census, he was a carpenter living with his family at 12 Third Street, Russell, Russell Co., KS. All of his children were born in PA, so he apparently moved to KS after 1875.

In the 1900 Census, he was a carpenter living with his wife, son Clinton, and daughter Lauren at 101 Lexington Avenue, Kansas City Ward 7, Jackson Co., MO. His mother-in-law Louisa Peckham, 78, and brother-in-law Lowell Peckham, 45, also a carpenter were living with them.
