Timothy Eddy
M, #19385, b. about 1775
Parents
Biography
Timothy Eddy was born about 1775 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He and
Mercy (Mary) Leonard were married on 2 April 1797.
He is #9406 in The Eddy Family in America, 1930, son of Pelatiah Eddy. He was a blacksmith in Taunton. The Eddy, Leonard, and Field families cross paths frequently in Taunton. They lived in Taunton, per Field Genealogy. Children are from Field Genealogy. The Fields are mentioned in Ruth (Leonard) Eddy's will, (wife of Ezra Eddy). Artemas Field was Ruth Leonard's nephew.
Asahel Eddy, Jr. of Taunton and Rhobe (Roby Leonard), his wife, quitclaimed to Artemas Field and Amos Lincoln all rights in the estate of Job Leonard, late of Raynham, dec'd, father of Rhobe Eddy (Roby Leonard). Dated April 1825. Witnessed by Ichabod Leonard and Asahel Eddy. Asahel and Rhobe signed, the latter with a mark. The Eddy Family in America, 1930, p. 950.
After Asahel, Sr.s death, Abijah LIncoln, David Harvey, and Beza Lincoln were the appraisers of his estate and the heirs given were Asahel Eddy, Tilly (Silence) Lincoln, Lydia Field (wife of Leonard Field), and Lucy Eddy.
Asahel was one of four brothers. Brother Abishai sold a piece of land to Job Leonard -- land on the road from Paul Eddy to Noah Willis -- on April 8, 1790. He also sold land to Samuel Leonard and Samuel Crocker. Brother Timothy sold 21 acres of land to Asahel Eddy and Joseph Leonard on March 11, 1795, witnessed by Benjamin and Elijah Leonard. Land he bought in February 1795 was witnessed by Benjamin Leonard and Asahel Eddy. Timothy quitclaimed to Stephen Leonard all his rights in his mother Lydia Eddy's land.
Timothy Eddy's wife's father's second wife was Abigail Harvey, widow of Oliver Eddy and sister of Timothy's paternal grandmother Lydia Harvey.
Artemas' wife Lucinda Leonard was the daughter of William2, Seth1 (uncertain as to parents of Seth). Robe Leonard was the daughter of Job4, Samuel3, James2, William1 (William Leonard and Sarah Leonard). Ichabod Leonard was probably Ichabod5, Ichabod4, Joseph3, Benjamin2, James Leonard. Timothy's wife Mary (Mercy) Leonard was the daughter of Benjamin Leonard (Joseph3, Benjamin2, James1), and her brothers were Elijah Leonard, Joseph Leonard, Benjamin Leonard, and Stephen Leonard. Joseph3 died in 1775, so wasn't part of any of these transactions. Ruth Leonard's (Seth1) husband Ezra was not closely related to Asahel Eddy.
