In 1327 he was deposed by Queen Isabella and her lover, Roger de Mortimer, in favor of his son, Edward III. Edward II was imprisoned at Berkeley Castle and later killed there, it is said by Roger de Mortimer sticking a hot poker up his anus. He was born on 25 April 1284 in Carnavon Castle, Wales. He died on 21 September 1327 at age 43 in England.
