Biography

William Henry Leonard was born on 12 March 1846 in Peterboro, Madison County, New York. He and Amy Maria Herrick were married on 1 January 1867. He died on 17 May 1911 at age 65 in Providence, Rhode Island.¹ He was buried in Riverside Cemetery, Providence, Rhode Island.

He was known as Henry. He was 21, a druggist, at time of marriage. He had a business at 7 College Street, Providence. He was a retired manufacturer of disinfectants at the time of his death-- Wm. H. Leonard & Co., essences and extracts, 7 College, Providence. He was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Providence. He died of apoplexy and cerebral hemorrhage. He died in his chair. The funeral was at his residence, 250 Massachusetts Avenue.

He was a Civil War veteran, Tenth and Eleventh Regiments and Tenth Battery, Rhode Island volunteers. He was a private in Company C of the Tenth Regiment, serving 3 mos. He was in the Wagoner Co. of the Eleventh Regiment for 3 mos. in 1863, discharged for disability at Camp Metcalf, VA.

Biography

Francis Thomas Leonard was born on 13 September 1850 in Danielsonville, Connecticut. He and Emily Josephine Stockbridge were married on 18 January 1887. He died on 27 January 1929 at age 78 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was buried in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

He was known as Frank. He went to sea on his uncle's (Benjamin Arnold's) merchantile fleet. He "died in his chair." (per Harriotte Leonard Standish).

He learned the trade of stonecutter from his father who owned a shop of his own in Warwick, RI. Frank did all his own designing for mantles and stones. He also was a farmer, carpenter, railroad man in Jersey City, and in later years became the owner of ivory piano key manufacturing in Pratt, Read Co. and in the Specialty Nail Works of MA. According to Harriotte Leonard Standish, he was a very quiet personage with a loving disposition, fond of horses and horse racing, hunting, and fishing.

Birth, parents, and death verified by PA death certificate, per Wardwell Leonard. He died of angina pectoris.
