Biography
Sir John de Sutton died before 23 November 1359.
He was in the war against the Scots in 1333-34 and had lettes of protection dated April 8, 1333, while he was in the retinue of Ralph Basset of Drayton. In 1350 he was a membe of a force sent from England to relieve St. Jean d'Angely. That year he was also summoned to Wesminster to advise the King on defending England.
When he died, he held with his wife the vill of Dudley, the Castle of Dudley, the manors of Sedgley, King-Swinford, Rowley-Somery and Penn in Stafordshire, the manor of Aston in Northamptonshire, and other lands.

John de Sutton died about 1359.
He was Lord of Dudley Castle, Staffordshire, England, from 1326 to 1359.
He was engaged in wars in Scotland in 1316-20 and in the retinue of his brother-in-law, John de Somery, 1318-19.
He was accused of complicity in the rebellion of Thomas Earl of Lancaster against the King and was extorted to give up all his right and interest in the castle and town of Dudley to Hugh le Despencer. In addition he gave up the manors of Sedgley, Swinford, and Rowley-Somery, as well as other lands, not obtaining restitution under Edward III became King.

Roger de Somery, Baron Dudley, was born on 24 June 1255. He died before 11 October 1291.
He was Baron Dudley from 1290. He held Dinas Powys in Wales, By a writ dated March 25, 1282, he and others were directed to take the field against the Welsh at once. He was involved in he Welsh War in 1287 when he was summjoned personally to attend the King at Gloucester from July 15.

Sir Richard de Sutton was born on 29 September 1266. He died after 1346.
He possessed Worsop and Aston le Walls and brought Malpas, Shocklach and other land in Cheshire to his descendants by his marriage.
He may have been the son of Robert de Sutton, born about 1241, died 1273-74, seized of he manor and advowson of Worksop, Notinghampshire, the manor of Sutton, Nottinghamshire, and Aston le Walls and Byfield in NOrthamptonshire. Johanna was his widow.

John de Cherleton was born in 1268 in Apley near Wellington in Salop (Shropshire), England. He and
Hawise Gadarn Ferch Owain Ap Gwenwywyn were married before 26 August 1309. He died before 20 January 1354. He was buried in Grey Friars, Shrewsbury.
He was named in a 1306 deed as owner of lands bordering those of William Fraunceys of Cherleton. On Septembe 18, 1308 William Fraunceis of Cherleton sold a messuage next to the land of Sir John de Cherleton, knight. He acquired the feudal barony of Pole, held in capite of the English crown, by right of his wife. Her uncles disputed her inheritance and besieged Powys Castle, but King Edward II directed Roger de Mortimer, then Justiciar of Wales, to protect John de Cherleton and Hawise Gadarn. In and before 1314 he was Lord Chamberlain to King Edward II. In 1313/14 he was Constable of Builth Castle in Brecon, Wales.
Although he joined the rebellion of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster, in 1321/2, he was pardoned September 11, 1322. He was appointed governor (Justiciar) of Ireland in 1337-38. (Carl Boyd, 3rd, "Medieval English Ancestors of Robert Abell," 2001, pp. 57-8.)
