Harvey Dewitt Leonard was born on 17 February 1827 in Bethany, Genesee, New York. He died on 17 September 1886 at age 59 in Leadville, Lake, Colorado. He was buried in 1886 in Evergreen Cemetery, Lake, Colorado.
There was a Harvey D. Leonard, 23, a carpenter, living with Luther and Sarah Crocker in Lockport, Niagara Co., NY, in the 1850 Census. There was an Alice M., 18, also living there, unclear as to her relationship to either Harvey or the Crockers.
Harvey D. Leonard appears in Leadville, Lake Co., CO, in the 1880 Census as a builder with no family living with him. In the 1900 Census, a Harvey D. Leonard, apparently his son, is living in Leadville with his mother, Mary, sister Sarah B. m. French, and granddaughter Helen T. b. Nov. 1883 in IA. Harvey Dewitt Leonard was a Merchant in Leadville, Colorado. He had person sources.

Hon., Rev. Elijah Leonard, was born on 1 May 1787 in Taunton, Bristol County, Massachusetts. He and
Mary ("Polly") Stone were married on 31 October 1811 in Vermont. He died on 15 May 1856 at age 69 in London, Ontario, Canada.
He ran away from home before completing his apprenticeship and left the Taunton area, migrated across Vermont, and settled near Lake George where he engaged in the production of iron. He lived in Syracuse and had a farm, but did not enjoy farming. He later moved to a place north of Syracuse (near Taberg, NY?), where he had a small furnace and engaged in the production of iron. In 1829 he took a trip to Albany on cousin Draper's canal boat. He and Lewis came to Long Point, Norfolk, Ontario in 1829 where Elijah became the new superintendent of the Normandale, Ontario, Forge. In 1834 he established a foundry in St. Thomas, Ontario, and moved it to London, Ontario, in 1838. He was called to the Canadian Senate about 1842. (from Eric Bowler and from ECL-GML manuscript).
