The division of the real estate occurred in April 1792 (page 226) and identified the four children: Sarah, Ann, Nathaniel, and Samuel. Joseph Leonard had person sources.1,2

Was it Thomas or Nathaniel Leonard who married Esther Heath? Or both, but different people? DAR # 43153 says it was Nathaniel; DAR # 33293 says it was Thomas.

The descendants listed all lived on the Jersey Coast. This isn't consistent with a Thomas dying in Beaver County, PA in 1801. It is probable that the Thomas living in Beaver County is another Thomas Leonard.

GML has this Thomas as Sgt. Thomas, a son of Nathaniel Leonard and Deliverance Lippet. Thomas Leonard had person sources.1

Biography

Capt. William Leonard was born on 20 August 1787 in Leonardsville, MIddletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He and Elizabeth Applegate were married on 31 December 1810 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. He and Elizabeth Conover were married on 29 November 1838 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. He died on 19 July 1873 at age 85 in MIddletown, Monmouth County, New Jersey. He was buried at Cemetery of the Society of Friends in Middletown, New Jersey.
Question as to whether he is the son of this Thomas. It doesn't seem quite right.

In 1807 he was living at the Leonard homestead at the crossroads in Leonardsville, NJ. He was a seafaring man, sailing vessels between Middletown and New York.

In the 1840 Census, son Thomas appears to have been married, no children, living close by. William had four boys and at least one daughter still living at home. Richard was married, had children, and was also living in Middletown. In the 1850 Census, there is a William Leonard, age 74, wife Elizabeth age 68, and daughter Elizabeth age 33, all born in NJ, all living in Bay Shore, Middletown Twp., Monmouth Co. Capt. Biography

Thomas Leonard was born on 8 September 1818 in Middletown, New Jersey.1 He and Mary Ann Hopping were married on 5 February 1840 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. He died on 9 May 1897 at age 78 in Leonardville, Middletown, New Jersey.
In the 1850 Census, Thomas was a well-to-do merchant (value, $8000) living with his family in Middletown. His stepmother was living with them. In the 1880 Census, Thomas was a merchant and farmer. His wife's mother, Patience Hopping, was living with them, as was Thomas' aunt Elizabeth, 86.

He lived in the same house in Leonardville where he was born for almost 82 years. He was the youngest member ever received by the Middletown Baptist Church in 1830. He was later one of the organizers of the Second Middletown (Navesink) Bamptish Church about 1852. He later became a member of the Atlantic Highlands Baptist Church when it was organized. He was a supporter of the temperance cause.

He began life as a produce salesman in New York. About 1849, he purchased the store and business of his father, later operated by Thomas' son Edward. He bought his father's homestead farm and later added several additional farms to it, becoming most of the land on which Atlantic Highlands is now located. He helped found the Bay View Transportation Company, which maintained a steamboat line between Atlantic Highlands and New York. He also was instrumental in extended the NJ Southern Railroad to Atlantic Highlands. (From Thomas H. Leonard, From Indian Trail to Electric Rail, 1928.) Thomas Leonard had person sources.2
