Biography

Thomas Alexander Leonard was born on 9 May 1835 in Mo. He and Lorena Whitsett were married on 5 May 1859 in Dent County, Missouri. He and Mary were married in 1891. He died on 1 May 1904 at age 68 in Mo.
He hauled the first load of material with ox teams to start the town of Salem about 1850. He owned the Gill farm at Meramec at one time.

Thomas was a sergeant in the 48th Missouri Infantry from 16 Aug 1864 to 23 Mar 1865.

He was President of the Forensic Debating Society in Union High School and was characterized as "exceedingly wise, fair spoken and persuading" in his senior year book in 1922.

He and Ruth were living in Erie, Erie Co., PA in the 1930 Census. He was a buyer for a furniture store.

Llewellen Leonard was born on 10 March 1835 in Brunswick County, North Carolina. He and Maulsey J. Simmons were married about 1867. He died on 8 August 1873 at age 38 in Brunswick County, North Carolina.
He was a teacher by profession. He enlisted as a first lieutenant in the Confederate Army 5 Oct 1861 and was mustered out 18 Feb 1862. He served in Company G, NC 20th Infantry Regiment. He enlisted a second time 2 July 1862 as a private in Co. C, 4th Calvary Regiment. In the 1850 and 1860 Censuses, he was living with his family in Lockwoods Folly, New Brunswick, NC, and living there with his wife and child in 1870. Llewellen Leonard served in the military Confederate Army from 5 October 1861 to 19 February 1862 in County G, NC 20th Infantry Regiment.

Biography

Jacob D. (or S.) Leonard was born on 4 March 1840 in Brunswick County, North Carolina. He and Armicy M. Hewett were married on 10 April 1873 in Brunswick County, North Carolina. He died on 21 November 1879 at age 39 in Brunswick County, North Carolina.
He enlisted in Co. G, NC 20th Infantry Regiment 25 May 1861.
20th NC Infantry Company G. Private. Enlisted on May 25th, 1861 at age 21 under Captain Brooks. Reported missing of operations and casualties in the battle of Wilderness Church and Chancellorsville, Virginia on 05/02-03/1863. Was found on 05/15/1863 and taken to General Hospital #18 in Richmond, Virginia on 5/17/1863. On 05/27/1863, he was told he had to remain in the hospital for 30 days. On 06/14/1863, he was taken to General Hospital #3 in Richmond, Virginia for wounds and a face injury and furloughed for thirty days. Therefore, he was transferred home to a hospital in Wilmington, NC on 06/16/1863. After return to duty, he got a shot wound that caused a salivary fistula. A surgery was performed and recover period was several months. He returned to duty in February 1864 and was wounded ath Cold Harbor and Chancellorsville on 06/29/1864. Records indicate he may have died as a result of wounds, but it is unclear.
