2 We know from their daughter's tombstone that this Hannah was the second wife of Elijah. We know from the marriage announcement that Elijah was a captain when he married Hannah. And he was referred to as Deacon when his and Hannah's daughter was buried in 1799. We know that this Elijah was not the Elijah who married Hannah Peirce in Dighton in 1780 -- this Elijah's wife was still alive. We know that Hannah Pitts and Hannah Peirce are not the same person, although both were from Dighton and both married Elijahs. The marriage dates are different; the marriage records are different; and both Hannahs' families have been established.
Rev., Ensign Elijah Leonard, and Hannah Pitts were married on 17 September 1764 in Dighton, Bristol, Massachusetts.
